“Steph” Fineman works as a professional Mental Health Counseling Intern and is a recent
graduate from Palm Beach Atlantic University having achieved her second master’s degree in
Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Trauma following the launch of her two sons
into college. Practicing within a “family-systems” therapeutic structure, Steph’s most recent
master’s degree compliments her first that was earned from the University of South Florida in
1992 in the field of Gerontology. Using a generational approach to clinical services, Steph has a
combined 30-year privileged experience spanning services to all age groups. Having been a
member of the “sandwich generation” herself, Steph strives to develop both the lay and
professional caregiver through therapeutic intervention, support, and psychoeducation as
today’s unique cultural challenges have provided quality opportunities in all types of
relationships.
With roots as a native New Yorker, Steph obtained both a BA and a BS in her undergraduate
studies from the University of Maryland and has practiced clinical service delivery in various
settings including emergency room/crisis intervention, in/out patient hospitalization, ACLF/SNF
rehabilitation, child and adult psychiatric hospitalization, home healthcare, and community
private practice. In addition to providing continued consultation services during the honored
position as mother and wife, Steph worked as an adjunct Medical Instructor at Florida Career
College for 10-years in their certification, bachelor’s, and master’s degree programs. Finally,
Steph has been an advocate regarding the child developmental benefits obtained from sleep-
away camp participation. For this reason, she continues to work as Assistant Director at Trails
End Camp in Pennsylvania during summer months. It is through this 13-year affiliation that
Steph has worked endlessly with multiple families and their children ranging from second
graders through to High School Junior campers for both girls and boys, along with college and
master’s age employees.
In between working with others, Steph enjoys adventures with her husband (Alan), sons (Liam
and Fletcher), her Canaan pooch (Ghost) and Pug puppy (Clarice). Her interest in meeting with
people and listening to their narratives is where she believes the hard work and magic of
change begins.
