Hello, I’m Sanna-Shae Sterling, a Registered Marriage and Family Therapy Intern (RMFT-I) in the state of Florida. Originally from Jamaica, I started my career as a Social Worker in the child welfare system, gaining valuable experience working with children and families. I’ve always had a passion for working with children. I believe they are our future, and the impact of their values, beliefs and attitudes will be felt for generations to come. Therefore, it’s important to be able to foster socially well adjusted, securely attached and emotionally aware ideals in our children during the impressionable stages of their lives. I believe I found this avenue through therapy, working with children to bring awareness, parents to teach skills, and families to establish meaningful relationships with each other. I absolutely love what I do.

In 2021 I transitioned to the United States where I completed a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy at the Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in 2023. Since my arrival, I’ve had the opportunity to work in different settings as a clinician, providing therapy to individuals, couples, children, teenagers, adults and parents in the child welfare system. I’ve worked with families as a Functional Family Therapist, addressing issues that brought the children to DJJ. I’ve worked with children and teenagers facing challenges such as managing their emotions, being disruptive, poor performance in school, and adjusting to new environments such as family and school. Now, I look forward to meeting you, learning about you and your individual therapeutic needs, whether it be seeing improvements in yourself or making changes to the relationships with your family members. My modalities include Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). See you soon!
