Meet Amy

Miami Team

Amy is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Ms. Cruz specializes in working with children, adolescents, and individuals who may be experiencing anxiety, grief, depression, transitional stressors, and challenging behaviors. Amy uses a client-centered approach and incorporates play therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to support clients, and meet them where they are at.  Amy works with parents to provide them tools, support, and empower them to enjoy and take control of their parenting journey.

Amy attended Florida International University and obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. While attending FIU, she supported research studies at the school’s psychology department and philanthropic causes. Upon graduation, Amy worked with children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, and was trained in Applied Behavior Analysis. Amy continued her studies at Nova Southeastern University earning her Master of Science in Counseling with a concentration in Mental Health. During her internship program Amy worked with St. Alban’s Child Enrichment Center providing individual, and group therapy and consulted with teachers, and mental health teams to support the community’s needs. While earning her master’s degree Amy worked as a Psychosocial Support Specialist with the Early Learning Coalition of Miami-Dade & Monroe, implementing social emotional programs in the school setting, and facilitating parent and Caregiver psychoeducational Support groups. Ms. Cruz continued her passion of  enriching children and families emotional well being while working at Stop Parenting Alone as a Community therapist, both in the home and school settings providing support and guidance through HeadStart initiatives.
